The Ophelia dress and top is a romantic design with whimsical sleeves. The shaped bodice has dropped shoulders and open darts in the front and regular darts at the back. View A: The midi skirt is gathered at the waist, has hidden inseam pockets and is finished with a dramatic wide hem. View B: The top has a peplum and is finished with a narrow hem. The sleeves are inspired by the 19th century Virago sleeves and has gathers, flounces and are finished with bias binding. The Ophelia dress and top has a rounded neckline and closes with a back zipper.

This dress was my best selling design during S/S2021 and S/S2022.

Size range: European sizes 34-50/UK6-UK22/US2-US22.

Sewing difficulty: The pattern is beginner friendly. You should be able to sew bias binding for the neckline and the sleeves. You should be able to insert a concealed zipper. The gathering lines on the sleeves and the pockets are optional.

Fabric suggestions: Choose a woven fabric with structure such as cotton, cotton lawn, linen, linen/viscose blend, linen/cotton blend, cotton/viscose blend. Try intricate fabrics such as organza, lace, fil coupé, embroidery or brocade for a special occasion. A drapier fabric such as viscose will give the garment less volume.

Fabric usage: View A: 3.5 meter (EU34) to 4.2 meters (EU50). View B: 1.6 meter (EU34) to 2.4 meters (EU50)

Pattern tester feedback:
Elizabeth: "Every one of Jessica's patterns are so thoughtfully and beautifully designed. The Ophelia Dress is of course another elegant addition to the me-made wardrobe - especially with the extra frill detail on the sleeves. If you're comfortable inserting a zipper, this pattern is definitely very doable for confident beginners."

Cath: "This is an amazing pattern - the romantic style is just stunning and is a timeless piece I will have in my wardrobe for years to come. The instructions are so thorough and everything is explained so well that even a beginner could tackle this dress. Well done Jessica on another stunning pattern that the sewing community are lucky enough to be able to enjoy."

Aria: "The Ophelia dress is such a beautiful and romantic dress. The instructions are incredibly detailed and would be a great for someone looking to flex their sewing skills."

Mackenzie: "I adore this pattern! Perfectly whimsical with the shoulder, rocks and lantern sleeves. The details in the bodice make it special and lay so well. I already know this will be a staple dress in my life!"

Shreya: "If you’re searching for a sewing pattern that seamlessly blends a dreamy romantic aesthetic with beautiful details, the Ophelia Dress is a must-have! The beauty of this pattern lies both in its overall design, and in the meticulous details throughout that are a signature of any Silversaga pattern. I love the gentle shaping created by the bodice darts, and the elegance of the statement sleeves and flounce. The deep hem adds a touch of luxury, making the skirt hang beautifully. With detailed and well-structured sewing instructions, Ophelia is a rewarding project for both the intermediate sewist as well as the adventurous beginner <3"

Manuela: "I love every single step of the Ophelia dress pattern. I think I’ve never sewed a dress so slowly and seeing the dress and especially the sleeves coming together was magical. I feel transported into another era when wearing my Ophelia. Thank you for another dreamy pattern!"

Madeleine: "This is a beautiful pattern! I was so excited when I finished the dress I didn't want to take it off. This pattern has a lot of great techniques and stylistic elements for beginner/intermediate sewists to try out and the more advanced sewist can take their time hand stitching, adding a little magic in each step of the process. I would recommend checking the finished garment measurements to make your decision about which size to sew, or at least to consider the ease the garment will have when completed - if you don't plan on doing a toile, make sure to fit the bodice before going any further with the dress."

Mara: "The Ophelia dress is a design created in dreams. The silhouette with the bodice darts are so soft and feminine and the gathered detail on the sleeve is just enough drama without being overwhelming. Both soft and bold, I loved playing around with the pattern and creating something beautiful that I hope to pass on to my daughters when they grow up. The instructions were easy to follow and had enough technical points to help bring any beginner sewist to the next level. For those with more experience, it was a fun pattern to sew that allows for a lot of creativity both with design choice and fabric choice. She was a dream to sew and I can't wait to show her off!"

Piola: "The Ophelia dress is the most dreamy and romantic dress! It is so easy to wear and to move in! It is almost impossible to make any mistakes while sewing, since the pattern instructions are so detailed and easy to follow. Jessica's patterns are thoughtfully designed with lovely details, like the sleeve flounce on the Ophelia dress."

Eleanor: "The Ophelia was a fun make, introducing some new techniques like shirring and open darts. The fit is spot on, and the dropped flounced shoulder is such a pretty detail, along with the ruched sleeves that remind me of snow drops. I like that the bodice is neat, but not overly fitted and Jessica's pocket design is my absolute favorite."

Madison: "I loved sewing the Ophelia dress! It’s has a historically inspired shape that reminds me of Little Women and I love that. This dress was so fun to make and very user friendly."

Pia: "I loved sewing this dress. The Ophelia dress has so many lovely details and looks like a piece of art, but was very easy to sew. The second time I used this pattern, I didn‘t even had to check the instructions once."
